Q & A Catch Up with Jarrold

Please introduce yourself

My name is Gemma Bunkell and I am the Beauty Buyer for Jarrold Department Store.

The industry has been going through some incredible changes. What are the most exciting opportunities for someone looking to start a career in the beauty industry?

Because of the pandemic the industry has moved to a new dimension very quickly and virtual has become a key factor in how we communicate with our customer. We’ve had to move away from the traditional one to one beauty service and adapt to bringing the same service but virtually. This has been a big project to turn around in a short space of time but I am excited to have this service added to our offering.

What’s your number 1 most important part you will take from last year and what’s your new focus for 2021?

The more adaptable you can be the better! In 2021 we will be focusing on continuously reviewing our product mix to ensure that we have the right product for the rapidly changing market, since the pandemic hit skincare has become a huge focus for our customer so we will want to ensure we have the right brands and ranges on offer.. As we build up to the store re opening we will focus on how we can keep a level of touch service for customers but making sure they feel safe.

What’s your key Beauty tip or quote?

Never underestimate the power of a well-groomed brow.
