COPRA Cares Q&A Catch Up with Positive+

Our COPRA Cares social media programme has been running since 2018 inviting our sponsors to share their thoughts and of course to answer some crucial questions relating to our ever-increasing industry.

Please introduce yourself

I am Tony Dennington, and I am the Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer for Positive+ and Managing Director of Colouration Limited

2021 has been another challenging year. How has it been for you and your business, and how have the recent challenges reflected in your business decisions?

It’s been a roller coaster ride! We have faced many Covid19 related challenges throughout this year and the unknowns and the uncertainties that the lock downs have brought, working from home and new coronavirus variants. Throughout, we have remained fluid and adaptable and used the opportunity to fine tune our working practices to be even more efficient and cost effective. It has given us the time to look at our best working practices in readiness for growth in this ever-changing environment.

Can you share any new initiatives you may have introduced?

We have accelerated our sustainability drive as well as our Positive Planet initiative which will soon be ready to announce our Carbon Neutral commitment, something we have a real passion for and, have been working on for some time now.

Another big part of our plans are to introduce an employee academy, we have recently employed our first two new recruits to embark on a structured career path at Positive+.

Our industry is dynamic and extremely rewarding, it is also a great career choice. What do you think is an important quality for those thinking of looking to start a career or move over to the beauty/retail sector or any associated business servicing the beauty industry?

Passion, drive and a creative eye certainly help! Throw in a head for numbers and a vision for the future and you are well on your way. The beauty/retail sector is all about feeling good and that is reflected in the people that work in it. Working with beautiful products that make you feel good is a great career choice for anyone with a positive outlook.

COPRA is very dependant on its amazing sponsors, industry supporting brands. How is COPRA important to you?

COPRA recognises what's good in the industry and is a business community of like-minded people, hugely supportive of the brands and the charity Look Good, Feel Better. It operates at a premium level and something that I feel privileged to be associated with. It offers the chance to celebrate and keep up to date with what's happening in beauty, exchange ideas and generally catch up with industry colleagues in a less formal environment than an office.
